The Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining, and Industry has announced that the Law on the Use of Renewable Energy Sources and Efficient Cogeneration in FBiH brings numerous benefits for the energy sector, citizens, and the economy. They highlight that, due to the decreasing costs of new technologies, electricity production from renewable sources is becoming more attractive.
- The law introduces a system to encourage electricity production from renewable sources and offers the possibility for citizens and businesses to become prosumers—people who, in addition to being consumers, can also produce electricity for their own needs. They can also form “renewable energy communities” and participate in the market, explains Vedran Lakić, the Federal Minister of Energy, Mining, and Industry.

Additionally, the new incentive system introduces an auction process for both small and large plants, which will increase cost efficiency, adhere to principles of transparency and democracy, and ensure a fair and rational distribution of public funds collected from electricity consumers.
- The Regulation on Incentivizing Electricity Production from Renewable Energy Sources, among other things, defines the method of determining and collecting fees from prosumers for incentives, the distribution of collected funds based on these incentives, as well as the maximum time allowed for plant construction and its connection to the grid. During this period, the investor will be guaranteed the status of a potential privileged producer, according to the Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining, and Industry.
