The Minister of Economy of Sarajevo Canton, Zlatko Mijatović, and the Mayor of the Municipality of Stari Grad, Irfan Čengić, signed a Co-Financing Agreement for the adaptation of a commercial space located in Saliha Hadžihuseinovića Muvekita Street. The aim of this initiative is to establish a HUB for supporting entrepreneurship and innovation development in the heart of Sarajevo.
This project is part of the Ministry’s broader activities within the 2025 Program for Financial Support to the Development of Business Infrastructure, including investments in entrepreneurial zones and municipal business incubators. The Ministry will allocate 400,000 BAM for the renovation, recognizing the strategic importance of building a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Municipality of Stari Grad.
During the visit, Minister Mijatović and Mayor Čengić, along with their teams, toured the facility that will be renovated and adapted to meet the needs of future entrepreneurs and startups. The project documentation has already been completed, and a request for urban planning consent has been submitted.
In the continuation of the meeting, discussions included other strategic projects for the development of the municipality, such as the landscaping of the “Forest of Friendship” park in Sedrenik. Special attention was given to the potential for implementing projects through public-private partnerships (PPPs).
Minister Mijatović emphasized that the Municipality of Stari Grad was the first to submit multiple project proposals for PPP implementation to the Ministry, adding that with the recent adoption of the Law on Public-Private Partnerships and accompanying bylaws, all necessary legal and procedural prerequisites are now in place for the realization of such initiatives.
